Detroit is throwing Michael Lorenzen who – in a word – has looked horrible in 2023. The sharps are moving the line in our direction – always a good sign. Some books have better odds than that (we’ve seen -140), but you gotta act fast as the line has been shortening all day. Why We Like The Mets: This one is more about betting against the Tigers than anything, but the Mets are a great ballclub to get in this favorable spot for a relatively low price of (-150). The historical data hates Chicago in this spot. What an emotional release! Now it’s time to bet against them, especially as this is an early-season divisional game. The White Sox are fresh off a walk off win yesterday against the Rays. This particular game against Chicago is lighting up a couple of our MLB Betting Systems. And with the off day yesterday, they’re fully rested. The Twins’ pen ranks 7th in xFIP and 12th in WAR – so they’re pretty solid back there. Today’s starter – Joe Ryan – is their best with a 5-0 record, 2.81 ERA, and 0.81 WHIP. Why We Like The Twins: Minnesota is an exceptional ballclub that features some of the best pitching in the MLB.

Those will shorten even more today as we like the Twins and Mets – both moderate favorites – to take care of weak opponents in series openers. You’ve probably noticed that our average moneyline odds have crossed the 0-line and are now at (-102). As the calendar turns, the temperatures rise, and the oddsmakers get a better feel for the teams, we start betting more favorites. In early April, we made our money betting underdogs. We got burned a bit by the Pirates last week and don’t feel like fading them again here – even though the odds are outstanding. Pirates-Rays is the most notable series this week, but we’re not touching that one.

Our runline pick – Houston – pulled through for us despite losing starting pitcher Luis Garcia to an elbow injury after just 8 pitches. Our top moneyline pick – the Yankees – blew a 2-0 lead in the 9th inning to lose 3-2.
